Steffeck Making Most of NBA Summer League Experience

William Penn's Keith Steffeck goes up for a massive dunk earlier in the season

William Penn’s Keith Steffeck

Oskaloosa–Keith Steffeck is three years removed from an All-American campaign at William Penn, but the former Statesmen cager is only getting better with age and is showing off his improving skills in the NBA’s Samsung Las Vegas Summer League.

Steffeck, who was an NAIA First-Team All-American at WPU in 2012-2013, accepted an invitation to play for the Memphis Grizzlies and has had a solid start. Wearing #8, the forward is averaging 6.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and 0.7 steals per game over 19 minutes of action. In three games, Steffeck has led the Grizzlies to a 2-1 record, including scoring nine points against Denver last Saturday.

A single-elimination bracket tournament, starting on Wednesday, will conclude league play. At that point, Steffeck will see if he has done enough to earn a spot somewhere in Memphis’ organization, either for the top squad or back in his home state as part of the NBA D-League’s Iowa Energy in Des Moines.
