Oskaloosa–Camila Parra (Fr., Brisbane, Australia, Biology) found the netting twice as the William Penn women’s soccer team won 3-0 over Mount Mercy in Midwest Collegiate Conference action Saturday.

The Statesmen (7-7-3, 3-2-1 MCC) posted their sixth shutout of the year, but more importantly locked up a home game for next Saturday’s MCC Tournament Quarterfinals. WPU will enter as the #4 seed and will host #5 Grand View (8-7-2) at Lacey Complex Stadium (start time TBA). The squad will seek to avenge its 2012 and 2013 eliminations by the Vikings. The sides played to a 0-0 draw back on October 1 in Oskaloosa.

The tournament home game will be the program’s first since 2005.

Parra got the navy and gold going right away Saturday, scoring one of the fastest goals in program history (actual record unknown) by finishing off a pass from Savannah Padilla (So., Mesa, Ariz., Sociology) just 19 seconds into action. It is Padilla’s second assist this year.

Parra then posted her team-best eighth goal of 2014–unassisted–in the eighth minute. Monique Nogueira (Fr., Melbourne, Australia, Exercise Science) completed the day’s scoring at the 39:44 mark with help from Silvia Munoz (Jr., Paramount, Calif., Elementary Education). Nogueira’s score is her second, while Munoz now has three assists.

Kelly Button (Sr., Tucson, Ariz., Business Management) highlighted another strong defensive effort, stopping seven shot attempts by the Mustangs (8-7-1, 0-5-1 MCC).
