Pella–A small crew of Statesmen grapplers hit the mat to ring in 2019 as William Penn competed at the Central Under Armour Invitational Saturday.

WPU finished 12th with five points, while host Central won the title with 135.5 points.

165 pounder Austinn Goin (Sr., Belton, Mo., Exercise Science) topped the navy and gold as he was 2-1 to claim the consolation bracket crown. The senior pinned one opponent.

125-pounder Nadhelo Charles-Pierre (So., Miramar, Fla., Sports Management) and 174-pounder Johnny Hopper (Sr., Basehor, Kan., Psychology) also picked up one victory each Saturday.

Next Up: William Penn returns to Oskaloosa next Tuesday, hosting Graceland in a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual meet at 7 p.m.
