Statesmen of the Week: Miguel Menendez and Raylee Bishop
Men’s soccer player Miguel Menendez (Fr., Oveido, Spain, Wellness and Recreation) and women’s shotgun sports athlete Raylee Bishop (Jr., Ankeny, Iowa, Engineering) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of October 23-29, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.
Menendez opened his week with the game-winning goal against Grand View in William Penn’s 2-0 victory last Tuesday. He then tallied the lone Statesmen score against Park last Saturday.
Bishop topped the women’s standings to earn the Female High Overall Athlete laurel at the Wartburg Invitational last Saturday and Sunday. The junior, who posted a final score of 354-for-400, helped WPU defeat Wartburg 1,836-1,766. She was 63-for-100 in Sporting Clays, 92-for-100 in Double Trap, 99-for-100 in Skeet, but highlighted her performance with a perfect 100-for-100 in Trap.
