Road draw for Central men’s soccer team

PELLA – Giving an immediate answer to a goal by Buena Vista University helped the Central College men’s soccer team pick up a point in the American Rivers Conference standings with a 1-1 draw Wednesday.

The Beavers (5-6-2, 0-4-1 American Rivers Conference) started the scoring at the 22:29 mark but Nate Lampe’s (junior, Newton) equalizer came at 23:32 after a ball came loose from the grasp of the Buena Vista keeper.

Dutch goalkeeper Morgan Finkenbinder (junior, Elkhorn, Neb., Skutt Catholic HS) made all three of his saves in the final 12 minutes to preserve the tie.

Central finished with an advantage in shots (15-4) and corner kicks (4-1) but couldn’t finagle the win.

Central travels to Loras College for a 7:30 p.m. match Saturday.
