Statesmen Battle at Augsburg Invite

Minneapolis, Minn.–The William Penn wrestling team hit the mat Saturday as it competed in the Auggie-Adidas Invitational hosted by Augsburg.

The large event featured Gold, Silver, and Bronze divisions, but WPU only had grapplers in the Gold and Silver divisions.

GOLD

Preston Wiest (Fr., Troutsville, Va.) headlined the efforts at the top division as he placed fifth at 141 pounds with a 3-1 record (one fall).

Fellow 141-pounder McGwire Bottorf (Fr., Mackinaw, Ill.), as well as 149-pounder Joe Eads (So., Morrison, Ill., Biology) and heavyweight Maxwell Diaz (Fr., Miami, Fla.), also claimed one fall each on the day.

SILVER

Brise Bennett (Fr., Morganstown, W.Va.) pinned one foe at 133 pounds as well.

Next Up: William Penn returns to Oskaloosa on December 5 as it hosts Baker in a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual in its unofficial home opener (last one was cancelled) at 5 p.m.
