Six Men Honored by CSC as Academic All-District
Oskaloosa–Six individuals from different William Penn male athletic programs were honored for strong 2023-2024 seasons in and out of the classroom as they earned At-Large academic all-district honors from College Sports Communicators.
Breck Putzier (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn., Exercise Science), from the men’s lacrosse team, paced the crew with a 3.94 Grade Point Average entering this spring. Fellow men’s lacrosse player Collin Baliva (Sr., St. Louis, Mo., Industrial Technology) was next at 3.75, while men’s bowler Bryce Keykal (Jr., Princeton, Minn., Education) owned a 3.71 GPA.
The men’s volleyball trio of Matt Helmick (Sr., Fullerton, Calif., Business Management) (3.53), Charlie Figy (Sr., Appleton, Wis., Secondary Education PE K-12) (3.52), and Britten Beallis (So., Naperville, Ill., Sports Management) (3.51) also garnered the laurel.
Putzier and Figy (from the AVCA) were NAIA First-Team All-Americans, while Baliva and Beallis (from the AVCA) earned Second-Team laurels. Helmick was an Honorable-Mention All-American from the AVCA, while Keykal earned first-team all-Heart of America Athletic Conference accolades.
The award combines both athletic and academic achievements. To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been enrolled at the nominating institution for one year (transfers use grades from their previous institution), and have a 3.50 Grade Point Average. Additional competition criteria is also required.
