Sigourney Falls to Keota in Home Opener

Sigourney High School, November 28, 2023 — In their season opener, the Sigourney Savages faced a challenging defeat against the Keota Eagles, ending with a score of 48-85. Despite the home-court advantage, Sigourney struggled to find their rhythm against a well-coordinated Keota team.

The game started with Keota setting a strong pace, leading 25-13 in the first quarter. Sigourney’s efforts to rally were met with Keota’s consistent performance, widening the gap to 53-27 by halftime. The trend continued in the second half, with Keota maintaining their lead and closing the game at 85-48.

Keota’s offense was led by senior Cole Kindred, who scored 22 points. Teammates Sawyer Stout and Evan Vittetoe contributed significantly, scoring 18 and 14 points, respectively. Billie Kindred, a junior, also made a notable impact with 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
