Shirley Lillie, 83 of Montezuma passed away Tuesday morning, August 13, 2019 at the Montezuma Specialty Care. Shirley Jean Lillie, the daughter of Dennis and Ola Belle (Conger) Grovenburg, was born on February 13, 1936 in Grinnell, Iowa.

She attended school in Grinnell.

Shirley was united in marriage to Manly (Pete) Lillie in 1952 at Unionville, Mo. To this union three children were born: Carolyn, Gary and Debra.

Shirley owned and managed a fish and pet store in Grinnell and later one in Montezuma. She also worked and managed the marina at Lake Ponderosa. Shirley received her Realtor’s license in the middle 70’s and worked at Century 21 in Grinnell, Citizen’s Realty, and then Tompkin’s Realty in Montezuma for over 30 years. In addition, she owned an antique and collectible store, Timeless Treasures, in Montezuma.

Shirley enjoyed genealogy, flowering plants, bird watching, puzzles, the Dairy King, bingo, and her favorite TV show, Oak Island. She loved her family and spending time with them.

Shirley is survived by her children: Carolyn (& David) Bru of Montezuma and Debra (& Bill) Garman of Rose Hill; seven grandchildren: Eric (& Traci) Bru, Jennifer (& Doug) Readshaw, Joshua Bru, David Bru, Suzy (& Shannon) Comstock, Matthew Aufenkamp, and John (& Angie) Luecht; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete; her son, Gary; her brothers: Keith, Dennis, Ernest and Kenneth; her sisters: Helen Strand, Mildred Vulysteke, and Thelma Fisher.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be held in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Specialty Care Bus Fund.
