Second City Band Concert To Feature Lux String Quintet

The Oskaloosa City Band welcomes the Lux String Quintet for Thursday evening’s concert. The ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. on the bandstand. This marks the third year the strings and wind instruments are performing together during the Oskaloosa Music Festival.

In addition to the traditional marches and overtures, the combined groups will be performing Sweet Caroline, Dancing Queen, and A Whole New World from Aladdin. This week’s guest vocalist is Tara Carrico, director of vocal music at North Mahaska. She will be performing I Dreamed A Dream from the musical Les Miserables. This week’s concert is sure to be a memorable experience.

Each week, the band recognizes those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. There will be a clipboard at the bottom of the bandstand steps and attendees are encouraged to add to the list.

The festivities begin at 5:30 pm with a Jam Session by the faculty and students from this week’s camp. Food vendors and yard games will be available throughout the evening.
