Schroeder and Carter Take Victories Late on Tasos Steakhouse and Southern Iowa Chassis Night

Southern Iowa Speedway Fan Appreciation Night

Oskaloosa, Iowa (August 27th, 2014) –Finally the Southern Iowa Speedway returned into action after nearly a month hiatus but it was an action packed night on Tasos Steakhouse and Southern Iowa Chassis Night.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts ten lap feature and it was Matt Moore leading the opening lap. On lap two though it was Austen Beccera from Ilinois taking the top spot. Beccera led the remaining distance which also saw the only stoppage to the race on lap six when Jon Menuis rolled in turn four. For Beccera that was his first at Osky in 2014. Bill Whalen beat out his brother John Whalen for second. Moore came home fourth and Menuis was fifth.

Charlie Weber led the first two laps in the 16 lap KBOE Radio IMCA SportMod feature but it was Jason McDaniel taking it away on lap three. Shortly after on lap four the caution came out for Danny Brau in turn two. McDaniel continued to lead until the caution came out again on lap ten for Curtis VanDerWal in turn two and Tony Johnson on the front stretch. McDaniel held on to take win number three at Osky in 2014. Brett Lowry finished second, Ryan Fullenkamp was third, Cory Van Zante was fourth and Weber was fifth.

In the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature it was Mike Kincaid grabbing the early lead from his outside front row starting spot. Kincaid continued to lead until lap eight when something went amiss under the hood forcing his exit and that handed the lead over to Mike Hughes. Hughes lead the remaining laps including through the only race caution on lap ten. Hughes crossed the line in first but was disqualifed in post race tech inspection handing the win over to Danny Thrasher. Brad Stephens, Craig Brown, Dustin Griffiths and Nick Ulin rounded out the top five.

Cayden Carter started outside row two in the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds 14 lap feature but by the end of lap one he was out front leading. Carter had a full straight-away lead built up by the time the only race caution came out on lap seven for AJ Johnson in turn two. Carter then saw Andrew Schroeder right behind him and Schroeder made the move on lap 12 and took the lead away. Schroeder went on to take the win over Carter. Scott Dickey was third, Jerry Pilcher was fourth and Tyler Groenendyk was fifth.

Final Feature of the night was 18 lap Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars feature and it was Todd Reitzler taking the lead. Reitzler appeared to be heading on to the win, he even continued to hold on to the lead through the only race caution on lap ten for Brock Welch in turn two. Reitzler however knew Cayden Carter was behind him on the restart but held him off until the last lap. Carter made the move and took the win away from Reitzler. Nathan Wood driving his old car finish third, Shane Weller was fourth and Jerry Pilcher was fifth.

Only one weekly points night which will also be Season Championship Night sponsored by Pepsi Cola Mahaska Bottling and KBOE Radio coming on Wednesday September 17th. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
