Sandra Edwards, 63, of Lake Ponderosa, near Montezuma and Marshalltown, passed away Sunday evening, September 1, 2019 at her home at Lake Ponderosa. Sandra Jo Edwards, the daughter of Joseph “Wayne” and Hazel (Stewart) Burg, was born on October 14, 1955 in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Sandi graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1974 and attended Marshalltown Community College, earning her LPN degree in 1976.

On May 17, 1980, Sandi was united in marriage to Douglas Edwards at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. To this union three children were born, Ashley, Brennon and Carmen.

Sandi was a nurse for 43 years, working her last 27 years at the McFarland Clinic in Marshalltown, retiring due to health reasons earlier this year.

Sandi enjoyed fishing, stamping and making cards, gardening, plants, bird watching, hosting friends and family at their lake home, kayaking, boating, spending time at the lake, and above all spending time with her grandchildren. She had fun with her “GNO” Girls Night Out group every week, wine club, kayaking club and her stamping club. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown.

Her legacy will be honored by her husband, Doug Edwards of Marshalltown; her children: Ashley (& James) Wilson of Ankeny, Brennon Edwards of Harrisburg, PA, and Carmen (& Thomas Morford) Edwards of Marshalltown; her two grandchildren, Parker and Lynden Wilson; her siblings, Larry (& Beverly) Burg of Marshalltown, and Cynthia Spence of Newton.

Sandi is preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers-in-law, Dean Spence and Don Hatch.

As was Sandi’s wish, her body has been cremated.
No services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated for a fishing bench in Sandi’s name and may be sent to the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in care of Sandi Edwards at P.O. Box 276 Montezuma, Iowa 50171.
