Ron Allgood, 84, of Oskaloosa, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Ronald Keith Allgood, son of Cleo LaVerne and Lorena (Owens) Allgood, was born May 12, 1940, in Beacon, Iowa.

When Ron was a small child, the family moved to Eddyville, and he graduated in 1958 from Eddyville High School.

After completing his education, Ron began farming in the Eddyville area.

Ron married Sandra Houser in 1959; they later divorced but remained good friends throughout his life.

In 1960, Ron began his 53-year career with Hawkeye Lumber, retiring in 2013 as the yard manager.

Ron served his country in the Army National Guard from 1962 to 1968. He was a 58-year member of the Elks Club and a 54-year member of the American Legion and served on the Legion Honor Guard.

Ron was a talented dancer and loved occasions where he could dance with his family and friends. Ron and his brother, Dennis, were partners in Standard Pacers & Trotters Horse Racing from 1996 to 2016. This hobby and passion gave the brothers many cherished moments and experiences.

Ron’s family includes his siblings and their spouses: Kathryn Emanuel of Oskaloosa, Carmen Allgood of Ozark, MO, Dennis and Marlene Allgood of Oskaloosa, Stephen and Betty Allgood of Eddyville; a brother-in-law, Harley Yates of Oskaloosa; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Allgood of Wisconsin and Judy Allgood of Gowrie, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by three sisters: Judy Cubit, Inez Bloodsworth, and Phyllis Yates; five brothers: Rex, Larry, Billy, Jack, and Don; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Allgood and Betty Allgood; three brothers-in-law, Les Cubit, Richard Emanuel and Albert Bloodsworth; and a special friend, Jan Feehan.

Funeral Services for Ron will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2024, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Molly Goodrich of the First Christian Church officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. The Oskaloosa Honor Guard will present Military Honors.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Sunday; the family will greet visitors from 2-4 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Mahaska Health Foundation for the Hospice Serenity House.
