Robert “Bob” Rozenboom, age 57, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at his home in Oskaloosa. Bob was born on December 19, 1962 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Lloyd Van Hemert and Anna Rae Rozenboom-Van Hemert.

Bob attended Jackson High School in Jackson, Michigan.

On March 29, 1982 he was united in marriage to Sheila Halsey in Jackson, Michigan. To this union 3 children were born, Nikki, Katie, and Zach. Together Bob and Sheila shared 20 years of marriage together until her passing in 2003.
On October 25, 2007 he was united in marriage to Laurie Zimmerman in Colorado.

After high school, Bob began doing concrete and construction work. He took a job at FMG Concrete in Michigan and worked there for 15 years before moving to Colorado. He and Laurie lived there for 3 years before returning to Iowa and taking a job driving a dump truck for Reilly’s Construction in Des Moines where he was currently employed.

Bob enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, riding snowmobiles and 4 wheelers and attending rock concerts. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and a die-hard Detroit Red Wings fan. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His family includes his wife, Laurie Rozenboom of Oskaloosa; his parents, Anna Rae and Lloyd Van Hemert; his children: Nicole (& Phillip) Shilling of Oskaloosa, Katie (& Jaysen Davis) Rozenboom of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Zachary Rozenboom of Oskaloosa; his five grandchildren: Samara Shilling, Cason Shilling, Braylee Shilling, Naveah Davis and Layla Davis; his siblings: Stanley (& Brenda) Van Hemert of Oskaloosa, Douglas Van Hemert of Fairfield, and Renae (& Doug) Gillam of Oskaloosa; his brothers-in-law, Lonnie Zimmerman of Oskaloosa and Tim Zimmerman of Holton, Michigan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Bella Boo.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Sheila Rozenboom; and his mother and father-in-law, Gene and Sandra Halsey.

As was Bob’s wish his body has been cremated.
A Celebration of Life service will be held October 3, 2020 in the Jubilee Family Church at 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm.
According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event. The Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and mailed to Nicole Shilling, 109 5th Ave E, Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577.
