Robert Dean “Bob” Roose 54, of Oskaloosa died at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on Thursday, May 6, 2021. Bob, the son of Art and Nancy Fynaardt Roose was born Tuesday, January 17, 1967, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Bob worked with the Christian Opportunity Center in Oskaloosa. Throughout his life he enjoyed worshipping Jesus Christ and learning about the Bible, his favorite places to worship were at the Gateway Church of the Nazarene and spending time with his Friendship Bible Group. Bob loved to fish and especially enjoyed fishing with his buddies Adam and Andy. He also enjoyed playing Rook at family gatherings, he loved birthday parties and took his role as director of singing Happy Birthday very seriously.

His family includes his mother: Nancy Roose of Oskaloosa; his siblings: sister, Pam (Richard) Watts of University Park, brother, Randy (Rachelle) Roose of New Sharon, brother, Dan (Claudia) Roose of New Jersey, a foster-brother, Timothy Van Dusseldorp of Oskaloosa; nieces and nephews: Angie (Brian) Lomas, Andy (Lindsay) Watts, Amanda (Adam) Ridgeway, David (Leah) Roose, Katie Roose, Krissy Roose and Nick Roose, ten great nieces and nephews: Finnigan Lomas, Ellie and Eli Watts, Olivia, Sophia and Mia Ridgeway, Lilly, Kindsey and Kaleigh Roose and Natalie Hershey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Art and his grandparents.

Graveside funeral service and burial will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa with Reverend Andy Watts officiating. A procession will form at 10:15 Saturday morning at the Bates Funeral Chapel for those wishing to attend the graveside service. Visitation will be open Friday, May 7, 2021 from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa.
