Richard “Dick” Edwin Ullrick Jr., 68, of Eddyville passed away Tuesday morning, September 26, 2017, at Hospice of Davis and Wapello in Ottumwa, Iowa. Richard Ullrick, son of Richard Edwin and Lillian (Wymore) Ullrick, was born January 9, 1949, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Dick lived with his grandparents in Ottumwa from the age of 12 years old. He attended Ottumwa High School and earned his G.E.D.

On June 6, 1969, Dick married Jane Ellen Barker in Ottumwa, Iowa.

After high school he enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1968 and served until June of 1974.

After his discharge he enrolled in the trades program at Indian Hill Community College in Centerville, IA. Upon graduation he started Quality Drywall in 1978, a company he owned and operated until 2016. He continued to work and was entertaining the idea of retirement.

Dick loved spending time with his family and friends. He and Jane very much enjoyed their couple friends and playing pool. Relaxing time for Dick was mowing the yard.

Dick’s family includes his wife Jane; his two sons: Michael (& Carissa) Ullrick of Urbandale, IA and Jeffrey (& Maryellen) Ullrick of Ottumwa, Iowa; a daughter, Rachel (& Zachary) Howard of West Des Moines, IA; five grandchildren: Shayna, Alex, Miya, Max and Emily; two sisters: Linda King of Beacon, IA and Carol Kent of Las Vegas, NV; five half-sisters: Theresa (& Mike) Hapes of Plano, TX, Vicki (& Larry) Plumlee of Joplin, MO, Kim Schnall of Long Island, NY, Cindy (& Chuck) Thomas of Beacon, IA and Chris Krile (& Greg Carmer) of Oskaloosa, IA.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents.

In accordance with his wishes, Dick’s body has been cremated.
No services are planned at this time.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Langkamp Funeral Chapel and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
