Regional soccer ranking given to Dutch women
PELLA — In the first United Soccer Coaches North Region Division III poll of the season, the Central College women’s soccer team came in at No. 9.
Central is 4-1 this season, allowing just three goals while scoring 14 times. Kallie Holte (senior, Kirksville, Mo.) leads the way with three scoring strikes.
The poll, released before Central’s 3-2 loss Tuesday night against Mount Mercy University, features four Iowa Conference schools, including the ninth-rated Dutch. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (3-0-1) is atop the rankings. No. 3 Loras College, No. 7 Wartburg College, and No. 8 Luther College also represent the league.
Central also received 91 votes in this week’s D3soccer.com top-25 poll, the second-most of any Iowa Conference school. From the North Region, Wis.-Whitewater was tabbed as No. 14.
A two-game road swing this weekend starts Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. The second end of the back-to-back takes place Saturday at 6 p.m. in Fulton, Missouri against Westminster College (Mo.)
