PELLA — A 2-0-0 mark last week wasn’t enough to move the needle for the ranking of the Central College women’s soccer team in the United Soccer Coaches North Region poll.

Central’s 1-1 draw with Loras College in double overtime on Tuesday night was not considered for this week’s ranking.

The Dutch are 14-1-2 this season against Division III competition, with the single loss taking place on the road at Coe College. Central soared past Buena Vista University 5-1 on Tuesday and struck late to beat Luther College in double overtime 1-0 on Saturday.

The University of Wisconsin – La Crosse (15-1-2) is the No. 1 team in the region while Loras (12-1-2) is No. 2. Central has already beaten the No. 8 team in the region, Wartburg College, 3-2 on September 30.

Central also received 35 votes in this week’s D3soccer.com top-25 poll, the second-most of any Iowa Conference school. Loras is ranked No. 18.

After tying for second in the Iowa Conference regular season standings, Central lost the tiebreaker on adjusted goal differential and will be the No. 3 seed. The Dutch will host Luther College, the No. 6 seed, in a quarterfinal match on Saturday. The time for that match is still to be determined.
