Randy Hunt, 65, of Fairfield and formerly of Oskaloosa, died unexpectedly Monday, November 15, 2021, at his home in Fairfield. He was born on February 28, 1956, the son of Max “Kenny” and Darlene (Newell) Hunt in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Randy attended North Mahaska High School and graduated with the Class of 1974.
On November 1, 1980, Randy was united in marriage to Deb Hunolt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa. To this union 3 children were born, Abby, Daniel, and Samantha.
Randy was a Master Craftsman and owned his own carpentry business.
Growing up around the movie theater and cinema, he enjoyed movies and spent much of his time watching them. Traditions were very important to Randy, especially on holidays. He loved going to the Iowa State Fair and never missed a year of going. Randy would do anything for his family, whom he loved dearly, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Deb Hunt of Fairfield; his children, Daniel (& Donni) Hunt of West Des Moines, Abby (& Jacob) Jackson of Newton and Samantha Hunt of Pella; his grandchildren, Ethan Jackson, Elliot Jackson, Caragh Jackson, Corie Jackson, Harriet Hunt, and another grandchild, Hannah Hunt, on the way; two brothers, Roy Hunt of Alabama and Max (& Mary) Hunt of Grinnell and two sisters, Karen Johnson of Oskaloosa and Linda (& Rick) Mattix of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kathy Rozendall; a brother, Kenny Hunt and two nephews, Joshua Hunt and Adam Steele.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall located in the lower level of the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa with Pastor Chad Lierman officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
A time of fellowship will follow services where the family looks forward to sharing memories of Randy with relatives and guests.
Memorials may be made to the family to be determined at a later date.
