Question of the week: Are you concerned about the current egg recall?

Residents have made their voices clear that they approved of Mahaska County Emergency Management’s response to the floods of 2010. 43 voters (88%) voted yes in our poll, meanwhile 6 voters (12%) voted no. The question of the week poll is unscientific and does not represent the views of Oskaloosa News.

This week’s question deals with the nationwide egg recall. During this month, we have become aware of a possible Salmonella contamination in packaged eggs.  The result of this finding triggered a nationwide egg recall that has affected more than half a billion eggs. The cause of this outbreak has been attributed to two Iowa egg farms: Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms. Earlier this week it was reported that the contamination’s were possibly from infected chicken feed at these farms and that more farms may have received the same feed that has caused this recall.

This brings us to our question of the week. With the current salmonella contamination, are you concerned about the egg recall? With the ongoing outbreak , and outbreaks in past years are you concerned? If you have any questions or comments, please e-mail us at info@oskynews.org.
