Phyllis (McMains) Morrison, age 97, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away at the MHP Hospice Serenity House on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. She was born on December 6, 1926, in Monroe County, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Livingston and Hattie Belle (Reese) Richardson.

She attended Oskaloosa high school and graduated with the Class of 1945.

She was united in marriage to William A. McMains on June 5, 1949, in Salem, Arkansas. William passed away on January 26, 1982.
On July 9, 1994, she was united in marriage to Earl Morrison. Earl passed away on January 4, 2011.

Phyllis began working at Wenrick Shoe Store shortly after graduating high school. She later earned her real estate license and was a realtor in Oskaloosa for over 20 years. She was the owner of Ace Realty until retiring in 1994.

Phyllis was a former member of Hayden Chapel Methodist Church near Eddyville. Phyllis had a love of Boston Terrier dogs and used to enjoy going to coffee time at McDonalds with her friends and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Diann (Dave) Vermeer, Brent (Gina) McMains, Mark (Tammy) McMains; 2 step-sons, Mike and Steven Morrison; 5 grandchildren, Adam (Jen) Vermeer, Amy (Mike) Brainard, John (Kristen) McMains, Markie (Mark) Roake and Alexis McElroy; 5 Step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; numerous step-great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great- nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by husbands, William McMains and Earl Morrison, her parents Edgar and Hattie Richardson; a infant granddaughter, Gillian McMains; 2 brothers Floyd and Earl Richarson; 4 sisters, Fern Richarson Wilford, Ruth Richardson Griffis, Opal Richardson Heitsman, Wilda Richardson Prothero.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Molly Goodrich officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Sunday, March 17, 2024, starting at 12:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Sunday afternoon from 1-3 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House.
