Penny Hartman, 66, of Oskaloosa passed away Wednesday morning, June 12, 2019, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Penny Lee Hartman, daughter of Likel Joseph and Lucille Dolly (Huit) Hartman, was born June 1, 1953, in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Penny attended school in Ottumwa and finished her high school education at Herbert Hoover High School in Toledo, Iowa.

Penny began caring for the elderly at age 14 and through the years worked as a nurse’s aide and eventually, a medication aide in nursing homes in Oskaloosa and Sigourney. She also helped clean for the elderly in their own homes. She retired due to ill health in 2011.

Sewing and flower gardening were things she enjoyed in her free time. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Oskaloosa.

Her family includes her children and their spouses: Treasa (& Martin) Dulton of Des Moines, Tannia Dawn (& Ed) Lovejoy of Oskaloosa, and Michael Wayne (& Linda) Linville of Monte IA; six grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (& Gene) Davis of Barnes City; and a brother, Lloyd Hartman of Des Moines.

In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by two sisters: Linda Beason and JoAnne Moore; a brother, Likel Dickerson; grandmothers: Eva Ross and Elizabeth Hartman, who raised Penny from when she was a small child.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2019, at Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City. Langkamp Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at Langkamp Funeral Chapel; a procession will then form to travel to the cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the family in her name.
