Pella Christian Star Inks with Statesmen
Oskaloosa–William Penn University football coach Todd Hafner has announced the signing of Sam Tvedt to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the football program.
Tvedt, the son of Bill and Julie Tvedt, was a First-Team All-State selection this past season. As a defensive back, Sam had 59 tackles (33 solos, 26 assists), including three stops for a loss. He also tallied four interceptions and a fumble recovery.
An iron man, Tvedt also played on the offensive end, rushing for 477 yards and nine touchdowns (7.6 rushing avg.) and caught 25 passes for 312 yards and four touchdowns. He also led Class 2A with 18 punt returns for 320 return yards this last season.
Tvedt has collected Second-Team and Third-Team All-State honors in his career as well as several all-district laurels.
“We are extremely excited that Sam has chosen to attend William Penn,” Hafner said. “He is an outstanding athlete and we feel he will be able to play multiple positions for us. He is a huge threat in the return game.”
Penn was 10-1 (6-1 Midwest League) last fall and finished the regular season ranked #13 in the NAIA. The team shared the MWL crown for its first league title since 1976 and its fifth overall.
