Pauline Arballo, 78, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, September 28, 2012, at her home in Oskaloosa. She was born February 7, 1934 in Mahaska County, Iowa, the daughter of Paul S. and Mary Edith Shelton Vance.
Pauline graduated from the Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1952. Later, she attended College of DuPage in Elgin, Illinois. She was united in marriage to James E. Wims on August 16, 1954 in Oskaloosa. James died in 1989. In 1991, Pauline married Joseph Arballo, and he died in 1993. She worked for Western Electric in the Chicago area for many years. Later she owned and operated her own health and beauty business in Elgin, Illinois. After the death of her husband Joseph, Pauline retired and moved to Oskaloosa. In retirement and life in Oskaloosa, Pauline remained very active, and did a lot of volunteer work, especially for her church, Gateway Church of the Nazarene and the Lady Eagles, and started the Coal Creek Church Preservation Association.
Her family includes a son: Michael Wims of West Chicago, Illinois; four daughters: Mary Wims, Oskaloosa, Sherry Wims of Chicago, Marcia Pinkston of Elburn, Illinois, and Janet Todd of Elgin, Illinois; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister: Lois Fulk of Oskaloosa; a sister in law, Carol Vance of Oskaloosa; and many fond nieces and nephews.
Besides her two husbands, Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; a son: James A. Wims; a brother, Robert E. Vance; and two sisters: Retha Pearson and Dorothy Vance.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Dave Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the Coal Creek Cemetery, south west of Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin at the funeral chapel on Tuesday, and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 12 Noon until the 2 p.m. service time to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be given to the Coal Creek Church Preservation Association.
