Patty Gates, 78 of Montezuma passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at her residence in Montezuma. Patty Sue Gates, the daughter of Ray and Lorene (Perry) Dudley, was born on December 7, 1939 in Centerville, Iowa.
Patty was united in marriage to Ronnie Gates on June 27, 1957. To this union two children were born, Jim and Sally.
Patty worked at Atlantic Mills Department Store in Des Moines and Target before moving to Montezuma in 2001 to be closer to her family.
Patty showed German Shephard dogs and then obedience dogs. As she got older, she started showing smaller dogs. Patty was a member of the Des Moines Obedience Training Club, German Shephard Dog Club of America and a contributor to the Fun Match Dog Showing Club. Patty enjoyed cross stitching, old country music and showing dogs.
Her memory will be honored by her children, Jim (& Cindy) Gates of Grinnell and Sally Gates of Clio, Iowa; three grandchildren: Jimmy Gates Jr., Anthony Gates and Joy Youngquist; 3 great grandchildren; three brothers: Wes Dudley of Des Moines, Mark Dudley of Ankeny and Matthew Dudley of Des Moines; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronnie Gates; and her twin sister, Peggy Bennett.
Graveside services will begin at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Pleasant Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
