Patricia Joy (Vance) Barnhill, 90, of Bussey, died peacefully on January 10, 2022, at Serenity House in Oskaloosa, surrounded by family. Patty was born on September 7, 1931, to Frank Clair and Fern Sarah Vance at home in rural Bussey.

Patty graduated from Bussey High School in 1949.

Patty married Rex Barnhill at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA, on June 10, 1949. Rex and Patty had three children: Dale, Brent, and Diane. They were married for 53 years.

Patty worked at the Bussey restaurant and at the overall factory in Knoxville, but the main focus of her time, attention, and love was being a wife and mother for her family.

Patty was a lifelong member of Bussey United Methodist Church, UMW, and several card clubs.

She is survived by her children: Dale (& DeAnn) Barnhill, Brent Barnhill, and Diane (& Max) Maddy; her grandchildren: Brandon, AdreAnne, Suzanne, Angela, and Brian; her great-grandchildren: Lia, Grace, Maya, Sean, Rex, Matthew, Mitchell, Isaac, Rowan, and one coming in March; a very special aunt, Pauline Wilson; a sister, Beverly Armstrong; and her beloved extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Fern Vance; her husband, Rex Barnhill; her brother, Charles Vance; and her sisters: Betty Grace, Jan Sinnott, Louise Spaur, and Judy Sinclair.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 15, at the Bussey United Methodist Church from 9-11 am. Services will be at 11 am, with graveside services immediately following in the Greenlawn Cemetery.

A luncheon will be served back at the church following the burial.

Memorials may be directed to the Greenlawn Cemetery in Bussey, or to the Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
