Ottumwa Man Facing Charges Over High Speed Chase

On December 13, 2019 at approximately 12:18 a.m., a member of the Oskaloosa Police Department was investigating a suspicious vehicle in the 900 block of South Market St. During this initial investigation, the suspect fled from the scene. It was then confirmed that the vehicle being investigated had been stolen out of Ottumwa. Officers pursued this vehicle out of town and through adjacent counties, with the assistance of other agencies. The suspect was later taken into custody, along with a passenger.

The suspect was identified as Patrick Lee Quick, from Ottumwa, 18 years of age. Charges include: Eluding, Interference with Official Acts, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft in the 2nd degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving Under Suspension, and various traffic offenses.

Members of the Oskaloosa Police Department were assisted in this investigation by members of the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa State Patrol, various out of county agencies, and the Mahaska County 911 Center.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
