Osky Optimists to Host Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Meet

Optimist Track Meet

Live Healthy Iowa Kids state qualifier will be May 15 at the Lacey Complex Stadium.

Students who may be interested in competing for a state title in the Live Healthy Iowa Kids State Meet in Marshalltown in June will have an opportunity to qualify in Oskaloosa. The Optimist Club of Oskaloosa is hosting a qualifier on Tuesday. May 15 at Lacey Complex Stadium.

The event is open to students ages 7-14 from any area. The winner of each event in each group will advance to the state meet.

“This meet was part of the former Hershey meet until a few years ago,” said organizer and Optimist Club member Keith Comfort. “Our club sponsored that meet and when Live Healthy Iowa took over we have continued our participation.”

Comfort emphasized the meet is not just for a particular school or students, but is open to any student age 7 through 14 as of the day of the meet. Participants may only compete in one qualifying meet. No same day registrations will be taken. Information is available at area schools, Midwest One Bank or from Comfort at 641-660-5263 or by email kcomfort3545@gmail.com.
Online registration is available at www.livehealthyiowakids.org.

“We encourage all kids to come out and participate whether they are interested in advancing or not,”said Comfort. “The meet is a great time for kids to get together and have fun.”
