Oskaloosa returned home Friday night hoping to knock off Norwalk, who beat Pella last week; however, the Warriors handed the Indians a 31-7 loss dropping Oskaloosa to 2-2 on the season.

Osky was dealt a big blow early in the game, as Senior, Aaron Blom who returned from an early-season ankle injury last week after missing the first two games, injured his other ankle on the Indians first offensive play of the game and would not return.

Despite that, Osky battled the Warriors hard, and the game was scoreless after the first quarter.

Norwalk scored twice in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead; The first came with 6:19 remaining in the second quarter.

The Warriors got a big punt return to the Indians three-yard line which allowed Quarterback Zachary Marker to score on a three-yard run on the next play. The Warriors added another score with just over a minute remaining in the first half on a 42-yard pass from Marker to Ethan Carlson.
The ensuing kickoff sailed into the end zone for a touchback, but a Norwalk penalty forced them to re-kick.

On the re-kick, Wyatt Krier found an opening for a great return to the Norwalk 37 yard line. Following an Osky timeout with just a few seconds remaining, Will Schultz found Noah Van Veldhuizen for a 21-yard touchdown pass pulling the Indians within 21-7 at halftime.

Osky suffered another big blow as Senior, Tyler Miller suffered an injury to his collarbone towards the end of the first half and would not play the second half.

Missing two of their leaders, shuffling their lineups, Oskaloosa couldn’t hang with the Warriors in the second half as Norwalk scored 17 third-quarter points on a 24 yard field goal, a two yard Marker run and a 49-yard pass from Marker to Chase Mckinney for the finishing touch.

With Blom and Miller already out, Quarterback Will Schultz suffered a possible concussion and was replaced by Reed Brown late in the third quarter.

Norwalk racked up 348 total yards while Osky was limited to 192 total, including just 82 rushing yards. Schultz rushed for 35 yards on 12 carries while Brown carried five times for 39 yards. Schultz was 9-21 passing for 112 yards with one touchdown and an interception while Brown was 1-2 with an interception. Van Veldhuizen was the top receiver with three catches for 43 yards and the Indians only touchdown, Iszac Schultz also caught three passes for 36 yards.

Colin Snitker was credited with 12 tackles to lead the defense, Leland Evans had eight, Reed Brown and Walker Newman each had seven tackles.

Oskaloosa fell to 2-2 on the season and will now head into District play next Friday when they host Grinnell for 2019 Homecoming.
