Oskaloosa Rental Housing Inspection Program Registration and Informational Meetings
The City of Oskaloosa’s Rental Housing Inspection Program is undergoing a few administrative changes. The most significant change to the program is that now landlords only have to file property registrations and fees at the time of inspection. This is a change – landlords do not need to file property registrations annually. Registrations will be due at the time of inspection, typically once every three years. No further action in regard to registration is needed by existing landlords if they have already registered their properties. Landlords will still need to register new properties with 30 days of acquisition or within 30 days of putting a property out into the rental market.
The City of Oskaloosa will also be holding annual public informational meetings for landlords in regard to the Rental Housing Inspection Program. The purpose of these meetings is to inform landlords of a few administrative changes to the program, to discuss common violations identified during the inspections, and to clarify any questions about the program. All meetings will cover the same material and will be open to the public. Landlords are not required to attend the meetings, but are encouraged to do so.
