Oskaloosa PD Hands Out Over 200 Warnings For Parking Violations

Oskaloosa Police Department

An Oskaloosa Police Department Press Release

The Oskaloosa Police Department would like to remind citizens that when there is a snow emergency declared, there is no on street parking within the city limits until the entire width of the roadway has been plowed or the snow emergency has been lifted. This includes ALL city streets, not just snow routes. Officers enforced the first snow emergency of the winter season starting Friday morning at midnight with written warnings. Officers wrote well over 200 warnings for the snow emergency violations. The Police Department is urging all citizens to sign up for text alerts via the city website to get informed of upcoming snow emergencies. If you do not have a cell phone to get text updates and snow is imminent or already on the ground, please listen to local radio stations, check the online city website and local news sites and stations for the snow emergency announcements. Once the entire width of your road has been plowed, you can then park on the roadway. As a reminder, a snow emergency violation can be a $25.00 fine and/or your vehicle being towed at your expense. To check for announcements or to sign up for text alerts is on the city website go to: www.oskaloosaiowa.org and click on the “Notify Me” icon.
