Oskaloosa Middle School Boys Track Team Shines at Little Hawkeye Conference Meet

Indianola, IA – May 6, 2024: The Oskaloosa Middle School boys’ track team capped off their season with a strong performance at the Little Hawkeye Conference Meet in Indianola on Monday night. Competing against a field of tough opponents, both the 7th and 8th grade boys earned impressive results, including several personal bests and top finishes.

“The Oskaloosa middle school boys traveled to Indianola Monday night to compete in the Little Hawkeye Conference Meet. Both the 7th and 8th grade boys competed well, with several season-best times. This was the last track meet of the season for the MS boys,” stated Coach Travis Miller in an email following the meet.

8th Grade Highlights:

2nd Place – Distance Medley Relay: Carter Jordan, Kien Bryan, Aidan Cox, Jacob Mitrisin – 4:14.49
4th Place – 100 Meters: Barrett Rhinehart-Lynch – 13.16
4th Place – 800 Meters: Jacob Mitrisin – 2:25.86
4th Place – 4×400 Relay: Micah Van Ee, Iwan Buchanan, Kien Bryan, Aidan Cox – 4:09.41
6th Place – 4×800 Relay: Silas Johnson, Iwan Buchanan, Micah Van Ee, Jacob Mitrisin – 10:20.02
6th Place – High Jump: Kien Bryan – 5’2″
6th Place – 200 Meter Hurdles: Carter Jordan – 29.46

The 8th grade team showed their strength across various events. The Distance Medley Relay team, composed of Carter Jordan, Kien Bryan, Aidan Cox, and Jacob Mitrisin, secured a 2nd-place finish with a time of 4:14.49.

Jacob Mitrisin added a 4th-place finish in the 800 Meters (2:25.86) to his strong showing, while Barrett Rhinehart-Lynch sprinted his way to a 4th-place finish in the 100 Meters with a time of 13.16.

7th Grade Highlights:

3rd Place – Sprint Medley Relay: Jordan Cauthron, Colton Hynick, Jamison Ruby, Kylor Anderson-McVay – 2:01.39
4th Place – 4×400 Relay: Kylor Anderson-McVay, Jordan Cauthron, Jack Miller, Jamison Ruby – 4:33.63
5th Place – 100 Meter Hurdles: Wesley Nelson – 19.95
6th Place – Long Jump: Jamison Ruby – 14’11”

In the 7th grade division, the Sprint Medley Relay team (Jordan Cauthron, Colton Hynick, Jamison Ruby, Kylor Anderson-McVay) stood out, securing 3rd place with a time of 2:01.39. The 4×400 Relay team (Kylor Anderson-McVay, Jordan Cauthron, Jack Miller, Jamison Ruby) finished 4th in their event with a time of 4:33.63. Wesley Nelson placed 5th in the 100 Meter Hurdles (19.95), while Jamison Ruby leaped to 6th place in the Long Jump (14’11”).

Coach Miller praised the team’s efforts and their strong finish to the season: “Both the 7th and 8th grade boys competed well, with several season-best times.”
