Oskaloosa Lion Receives International Award

Lions Clubs International Foundation honored Oskaloosa Lion Leslie Nuehring during the Iowa Lions State Convention in Cedar Rapids June 7. Nuehring received the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation for her dedication to Lions. During the presentation, International Director Judy Hankom of Hampton, Iowa, cited Nuehring’s accomplishments in Lions to include serving Lions District 9SE as the Iowa KidSight Chairperson and having initiated the Lions White Cane Days and the File of Life Cards projects in Oskaloosa. Nuehring serves as the secretary of the Oskaloosa Lions Club. Nuehring was one of only two Lions awarded the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation during the Iowa State Convention this year. The other recipient was Past Council Chair Roger Bublitz of Waukon, Iowa. The International President’s Certificate of Appreciation is the fourth highest award in Lions.
The Oskaloosa Lions Club meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Oskaloosa Public Library, 3rd floor meeting room C. They are currently seeking upstanding, community-minded citizens for new membership.
