Oskaloosa High School Drama to present One Acts

George Daily Auditorium

The first One Act is ‘In the Beginning’ written by Bruce Kane and directed by Senior Lex Sparks. To put it short, this One Act is a twist on the story of Adam and Eve. You can expect some adult language and references in this particular One Act.

The next one act to be presented is ‘Hank Cinque’ by Heuer Publisher and  directed by Senior Libby Boer. The play focuses on a group of actors attempting to put on The Life of King Henry the Fifth. However, the actors are forced to do this production without a set, with cheap props, and with a very short time constraint. Despite the obstacles, the play becomes very comical.

The third one act is The Chocolate Affair by Stephanie Alison Walker and directed by Senior Natasha Gorski. The play focuses on a woman who checks herself into a shabby hotel room to eat her daughter’s candy from Halloween. While she is eating the candy, a couple of odd strangers show up and chaos breaks out.

Next is La Mouche by Stephen Bittrich and directed by Seniors Tress Glass and Max Holle. This one act begins in a restaurant. While eating, a woman discovers a fly in her soup. The waiters panic, and more pandemonium ensues.

The fifth One Act is Kiss the Twins for Me by G.L. Horton and directed by Senior Katie Akers. This one act focuses on a family and the loss of their mother. After their mother disappears, the sons and daughter are each left with a box of things. As the play continues, all three characters accept this oddity and try to comfort each other.

The sixth one act presented is The Brown Shoes by Julie Jenson and directed by Senior Lyric Morris. This One Act features six different drama students.

The final one act presented is Boxed In by Ben Kingsland and directed by Senior Gabe Burns. This one act is set in an office building. A woman is afraid that she is on her boss’s ‘bad list’ and that she is bound to get a pink slip. In an effort to avoid the pink slip, the woman hides in a box and has one of her coworkers cover for her when the boss becomes suspicious.

The One Acts will be held at 7:30 pm on Friday April 29th and Saturday April 30th.
