Oskaloosa Girls Swimming At Grinnell

The Indian Swimmers found themselves back at Grinnell tonight swimming with Grinnell, DSM East, Vinton-Shellsburg, and Williamsburg! Being our third meet of the season we continued in our trend of giving each athlete a different line-up in order to foster the well-rounded, competitive spirit we value on our team. We had a few major highlights that showcase the work these athletes have been putting in since August 9, even in events that they do not always get the opportunity to compete in.

Leading the way was sophomore Grace Moore who put herself into our program Top Ten in both of the individual events she competed in tonight. Grace swam a 28.55 in her first high school open 50 free, earning her a 7th place slot on our list and 5th place finish tonight, as well as dropping from a 7:14 to a 6:41 in her 500 freestyle, earning her an 8th place slot on our Top Ten in that event and a 4th place finish tonight. She also anchored our 6th place 400 free relay right at her PR time of 1:05.92.

Another athlete with an exciting meet was sophomore Emma Adams. Emma found the “next gear” tonight, dropping 8 seconds on her 100 freestyle to earn her her first 1:10 in that event. Adams dropped time in all four of her events tonight, including the 200 IM (-3), 100 back (-1), and 400 free relay split (-5). Emma is proving herself to be a utility athlete that is willing to do whatever it takes to improve herself and her team.

Other notable swims included Audree Cheney in her first varsity swim in the 100 backstroke (1:29.97) and Callie Lindgren and Maddy Moorman going 7/8 in the 200 freestyle at 2:38.94 and 2:42.99, respectively.

Now that we have a few meets and different line-ups under us, we will put together a competitive line-up for our next invitational this Monday, September 13 at Williamsburg to see where we fit at this point in the season. We will immediately follow that up with a dual meet on Tuesday, September 14 at Newton vs. NCMP (Newton, Colfax-Mingo, Monroe, and Pella).

As always, thank you for your support of our Osky Indian Swim Team!
