OSKALOOSA ELKS DONATE DICTIONARIES TO 5 AREA SCHOOLS
Oskaloosa Elks Lodge #340 distributed more than 300 dictionaries to third graders at Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa Christian, Fremont, Tri-County and Sigourney elementary schools on Dec. 4.
“This is an annual project of the Oskaloosa Elks,” said Elks Exalted Ruler Rick Corbett, who explained the dictionaries are provided each year free of charge.
“It is just part of our youth and community outreach that the Oskaloosa Elks have done for nearly 120 years,” Corbett said. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) supports veterans, drug awareness for children, and other projects benefiting communities on local and national levels.
Membership in the Elks is by invitation. If you are interested in becoming an Elk and helping with programs like the Dictionary Project, please contact Rick Corbett at 515-201-8362 or any other member of the Oskaloosa Elks.
