Oskaloosa, Iowa – The battle of the Indians had the Oskaloosa tribe crushing the Indianola tribe 71-26 on Friday night.

Oskaloosa Head Coach Ryan Parker said that Oskaloosa had a great defensive effort in the win. “Offensively we struggled a little bit. Defensively, it was probably one of the best defensive efforts we’ve had.”

“For us to hold them to 9 in the first half, that’s phenomenical,” said Parker.

The gym also had a new piece of equipment in the form of a ‘Dunk-O-Meter’. Parker said the meter isn’t a distraction, “The distraction of being number 1, the distraction of being undefeated, the distraction of everybody being in the stands,” said Parker, who doesn’t believe that the meter is a distraction for his team. “I think it’s one of those things that’s pretty cool.”

“Our community support and the student section have been phenomenal,” said Parker, who then mentioned the large contingent of traveling fans from Oskaloosa that support the team. “Part of it is, the kids are really good kids, it’s not just that they are great basketball players. They’re really good kids and it’s not hard to support them.”

Parker said that the game on Saturday, “Would be a tough test for us,” as they will be taking on Dubuque Wahlert at Lorus College.

Jared Kruse once again lead Oskaloosa with 18 points, while Xavier Foster lead Oskaloosa on the boards with 15 rebounds.

Foster also had 16 points on the night, while Cole Henry, Tanner DeKock, and Spencer Tucker each had 9 points.

Cole Henry had 3 blocked shots, while Foster had 2 blocked shots. Rian Yates had 5 assists on the night.

Oskaloosa takes to the court on Saturday afternoon against Dubuque Wahlert, and then makes the trip to Pella Christian on Friday, January 19th.
