Oskaloosa Community School District Board Meeting Summary – July 16, 2024

Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance

Action Items
Special Education Leadership Consultant Wendy Parker was approved as the Special Education Leadership Consultant. Parker, a retired director with extensive experience, will fill the void left by the previous SPED director, saving the district significant funds by working as a consultant.
Bond Counsel for OMS Entryway Project – The Board approved Ahlers & Cooney as Bond Counsel for the OMS Entryway Project. This step allows the district to move forward with the necessary legal and financial preparations for the project.
Resolution for Public Hearing on School Infrastructure Bonds – The Board set a public hearing date for July 30, 2024, at 5:30 PM, regarding the proposed issuance of approximately $5,500,000 in School Infrastructure Sales, Services, and Use Tax Revenue Bonds. This hearing will address the financing for remodeling and improving the middle school, including secure entry improvements and other related projects.
Superintendent Contract – The Board approved the amended contract with Dr. Michael Fisher as Superintendent. The contract includes a salary of $215,645 for the first year, with adjustments and benefits outlined in the agreement.
Subsequent Meetings – A special meeting is scheduled for July 30, 2024, at 5:30 PM, followed by the next regular Board meeting on August 13, 2024, at 6:00 PM.
