Oskaloosa Community, BB & SB Spectators, Family & Friends,

An Oskaloosa Schools Activities Press Release

As many of you know, Governor Reynolds announced last week that Iowa high schools would be able to start summer baseball and softball practice June 1. Our first games are scheduled for June 15, home vs. Pella Christian.

Iowa will be the first state in the country to resume competitive high school sports this summer. We may be the first competitive team sports to play in any high school, college, and professional associations nationwide. The entire country will be watching Iowa starting June 15. Therefore, it is imperative that we successfully navigate competitive team sports during the pandemic. If we are not successful, it could mean we miss out on fall and/or winter sports later this year.

As we have seen with many local stores and businesses, we must be adaptable to the COVID-19 mitigation strategies schools have implemented. This summer will be unlike any other sports season and we should be thankful that our student athletes get an opportunity to do something that they truly enjoy. Some of the regulations that our spectators must follow:

ü If you have symptoms of Covid-19 or have been around someone with Covid-19 in the last 14 days please do not attend. ü No Concessions will be available. School appropriate food and drinks permitted. ü No shared food. If player needs food they must bring own…single household use only. ü Bleacher seating will be limited. Please bring own chairs and spread out. ü No seating from dugout to dugout along fence ü Admissions-Free Will at the Gate…suggested donation is $5 per person ü Hand Sanitizer stations located outside each pressbox. ü Restrooms will be available ü Both Baseball & Softball games will be streamed on Indians Network. ü SOCIAL DISTANCING IS REQUIRED. 6 FEET!!!
Regardless of the requirements, we ask that you remain respectful and compliant when you visit our school as well as our other area schools. The school administrators and coaches who are developing these strategies are doing their best and working hard to create a safer and healthier environment for all. Spectators not following social distancing and/or behavioral expectations will be asked to leave the game.

Please do not ruin this opportunity for yourself, the other fans, or the players.

We are fortunate to have an opportunity to play baseball and softball this summer, and our fans are fortunate to be able to attend. Let’s show the rest of the world that this can be done safely and that we can be respectful to our neighboring schools when visiting them.

We look forward to seeing you at our complex in the near future! PLAY BALL!
