The Oskaloosa City Band practices Monday night for their upcoming concern on Thursday evening at 8pm in the Bandstand.

The Oskaloosa City Band will perform Thursday evening at 8 p.m. on the city’s historical bandstand. This week’s concert features patriotic songs as we celebrate Independence Day. Audience members will hear a variety of marches, including: National Emblem, Call To Victory, and Stars & Stripes. Other patriotic themed pieces include: The Armed Forces Medley, Theme from Patton, and God Bless America.

The band will step back a few decades to play popular pieces such as Moon River and a medley of hits by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

Andrea Dursky will be this week’s featured soloist. Mayor Dave Krutzfeldt will speak between musical selections, sharing about the 150 year history of the band.

Each week, the band recognizes those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. If you would like to recognize someone this week, please give the information to a band member before the concert.

There will be a prize drawing near the end of the concert, including prizes from local businesses and Oskaloosa City Band t-shirts.
