Oskaloosa Boys Track & Field Compete at 96th Osky Relays

Oskaloosa, IA – On a brisk evening that would set the stage for memorable performances, the Oskaloosa Boys Track & Field team stepped onto their home track with determination and left with a trove of medals and moments that will be talked about for seasons to come. The 96th Osky Relays saw the team, under the guidance of Head Coach Mike Sterner.

The star of the night, Blake Herny, was nothing short of phenomenal. Herny’s efforts earned him triple gold, a rare feat, as he led his team to victory in the 800m, 4×400 relay, and Distance Medley relay. His athleticism and leadership on the track were pivotal to the team’s success.

“Blake had a tremendous night.” Coach Sterner remarked.

The 4×400 relay team, consisting of DaMarion Winchel, Tre Bullock, Dre Bullock, and Herny, showcased their speed and teamwork, clocking in an impressive 3:49.49.

In the Distance Medley, Oscar Chambers, Parker Jordan, Dre Bullock, and Herny worked in harmony to secure another first-place finish for Oskaloosa.

The 4×200 relay team of AJ Walker, JT Baker, Grady Kool, and Jaden DeRonde also made their mark, winning gold with a time of 1:36.95.

The chilly winds did little to dampen the spirits of the fans who turned out in support of the team. Their cheers provided a backdrop to a night filled with competitive spirit and camaraderie.

Despite finishing fifth in the team standings, the resolve and achievements of the Oskaloosa Boys Track & Field team were clear. With a mix of veteran leadership and emerging talent, the team is looking forward to building on their success at their next meet in Fairfield on Tuesday.
