Oskaloosa Boys Tennis Concludes Season Against Dallas Center-Grimes

The Oskaloosa Boys Tennis team played its final match of the season on Tuesday, April 30th, against Dallas Center-Grimes. Despite the 2-9 loss, Coach Tony Witt emphasized how close the match was and praised his team’s progress.

“The final score does not reflect how close this match really was,” Coach Witt said. “Osky lost 3 of the 5 matches that went to the 3rd set tiebreaker. Osky wins those, and the score is 5 to 6.”

The match’s highlight was Ivan Montgomery and Ian Fay securing their first varsity doubles win of the season. They won in a long, three-set battle, clinching victory 10-8 in the third-set tiebreaker.

Montgomery and Fay’s win was not the only notable aspect of the night. Coach Witt acknowledged the seniors for their contributions and hard work.

“This was also our senior night, and I would like to recognize Cam Cassens, Aiden Scholes, Will Roach, and Donnie Kim, and congratulate them for their accomplishments,” he said.

Despite the season-ending loss, Coach Witt commended his team’s improvement and resilience throughout the season, reflecting a bright future for the Oskaloosa Boys Tennis team.
