Oskaloosa Boys Swimming Places Well At Hoover Invitational

The Oskaloosa Boys Indian swim team traveled to Des Moines Hoover for their invitational event on Saturday to compete against Grinnell, Sioux City, Williamsburg, Storm Lake, and the Huskies. The Indians brought home 11 medals on the day on their way to scoring 117 points. The 200 Free Relay team of Owen Gordon, Jarod Miller, Colin Fiechtner, and Jack Dawson earned silver medals, and they earned the Bronze medals in the 400 Free Relay Event as well. Colin Fiechtner won a bronze medal in the 200 IM, Owen Gordon earned a silver medal in the 100 Backstroke, and Jack Dawson earned a Silver medal in the 100 Breast.

The first event of the day was the 200 Medley Relay, and the team of Landon Hunolt, Luca Claro, Keygan Roberts, and Joshua Hartl swam a time of 2:29 for the Indians.

Next up for the Indians was the 200 IM event and Colin Fiechtner went to the blocks and swam a personal best with a time of 2:22.48 to earn a 3rd place finish.

In the 50 Free Oskaloosa sent four swimmers to compete. Trae Jarvis swam a personal best of 35.88, Luca Claro swam a 31.04, Landon Hunolt swam a 29.45, and Joshua Hartl swam a personal best of 28.58 for the top Indian swimmer with a 16th place finish.

For the Indians next race, 100 Freestyle Event, they sent Keygan Roberts, and he swam a 1:03.34 for a personal best and an 8th place finish.

The Indians sent two teams to the 200 Freestyle Event as the team of Claro, Hartl, Jarvis, and Hunolt swam a time of 2:02.76 for an 11th place finish and the team of Gordon, Miller, Fiechtner, and Dawson swam a 1:38.99 to take home the 2nd place finish.

After a short break, the Indians sent Owen Gordon to the blocks in the 100 Backstroke event as he came away with a 2nd place finish by swimming a 1:02.46

Next up was the 100 Breast and Jack Dawson swam a personal best by swimming a 1:06.92 to take home the 2nd place finish for the Indians.
The Indians once again sent 2 teams to compete in the 400 Relay Event as the team of Hartl, Hunolt, Claro, and Roberts swam a personal best in a time of 4:34.53 and the team of Miller, Fiechtner, Gordon, and Dawson swam a time of 3:45.64 to earn a 3rd place finish.

The Indians have a short break as they are heading down the home stretch. Next event is at Indianola on January 17th.
