Oskaloosa Boys Look to Bounce Back vs Pella

By:  Jamie Brockman

Fresh off their first loss this season, the Oskaloosa boys (7-1 and 3-1 LHC) return to action tonight when they host Pella as the battle for the top of the LHC continues. Oskaloosa handled Pella in both meetings last year winning 72-45 and 65-56. This year, however, the Little Dutch are riding a lot of momentum coming into Oskaloosa, while the Indians look to rebound from their loss to Norwalk.

Pella brings a 5-2 season record (3-1 LHC) coming off two high scoring, lopsided victories over Newton and Norwalk, and is averaging 72 points per game. Pella is led by Logan Shetterly who averages 19 points per game, as well as John Oltman, Ryan Gustafson and Nick DeJong who average 13, 10 and 10 points respectively.

Oskaloosa’s offense struggled to get flowing at Norwalk Tuesday night as two of our three leading scorers, Cole Henry and Rian Yates were held scoreless in the second half. The Indians will have to find a way for the power trio of Xavier Foster, Henry and Yates to be more productive tonight to counter Pella’s attack. Oskaloosa will look to avoid their second straight loss heading into the holiday break, but can’t afford to come out flat against a high scoring Pella squad.

You can hear the game live on Osky News Live powered by Thunder Country KIIC with Jamie Brockman and Bret Doud calling the action starting around 7:30 pm tonight.
