Oskaloosa Agricultural Students Attend Van Wall Partners in Profit

33 Oskaloosa High School students enrolled in Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics students traveled to the Farm Progress Show grounds in Boone on Thursday, Jan. 12th to attend an event put on by Van Wall, John Deere Dealership.

33 Oskaloosa High School students enrolled in Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics students traveled to the Farm Progress Show grounds in Boone on Thursday, Jan. 12th to attend an event put on by Van Wall, John Deere Dealership. On the trip the students learned about different precision farming technologies, marketing and financial decision making in farming, and crop planning.

The students went to the event to earn points towards a certification from John Deere in Precision Farming Fundamentals. Throughout the course the students are completing different modules on GPS, Global Informational Systems, using precision farming technologies, and other 21st century technologies in the agricultural industry. From this course, students are prepared for a career working in precision agriculture, whether it be on the farm or in the agricultural industry.
