Oskaloosa 8th Grade Volleyball Takes On Pella

by Coach Eckenrod

The 8th grade volleyball teams were in action last Thursday night against Pella.

The A team came out with high intensity and is continuing to show improvement. This team continues to move and become more creative when finding ways to score. The A team won all 2 games, 25-21, 25-15, and 25-13. This moves the A teams record to 2-0. Faith VanMerbergen and Maleah Walker lead the way serving with 5 aces each. Lucy Roach and Maleah Walker both had 8 kills.

The B team battled hard but fell short loosing all 3 games: 12-25, 7-25, 8-25. Moving them to 0-2 record. We have many areas of improvement and hope to see these coming through in the coming weeks. Adriana Ramos led the team with 2 aces.

Thursday and the C & D team showed their best efforts yet. The C team won the first match 25-22, lost their second match 17-25, and won their third match 25-20. Lily McKay had 7 aces and Ava Doty had 5 aces. The D team won all three of their matches with scores of 25-23, 25-11, and 25-13! McKennzie Whennen had 18 aces throughout the 3 matches, Ashton Teague had 4 aces, and Mallory Bihn had 3 aces during the games. The girls are still improving and hopefully will continue to work hard throughout the season! Something we are really trying to improve is getting the ball set up and work on our hitting!

Come watch us at home tonight at 4:30 against Grinnell!
