OPD Arrests Man And Charges Him With Assault With A Dangerous Weapon

On Tuesday June 12, 2018 at approximately 2:28 p.m. Oskaloosa Police Officers were dispatched to 1014 D Ave West in reference to a verbal altercation between males at the residence. Prior to officers arrival it was also dispatched that the altercation had escalated into a handgun being involved.

The investigation determined that William Lee Graves (age 19) of Des Moines, Iowa was responsible for the assault with a handgun. Graves was taken into custody and transported to the Mahaska County Jail where he was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. There were no injuries involved in this incident.

Assault with a dangerous weapon is an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by up to 2 years in a State Penitentiary and or a two thousand dollar fine.

The Oskaloosa Police Department was assisted by the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Department.

It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
