OMS Competes At Conference Championship

The team traveled to DCG for the Little Hawkeye Conference Championships.

To say that the LHC is a tough conference is an understatement. That being said both teams ran tough.
Lane Smith led the way for the boys team with a top 15 finish, placing 14th overall. He was the fourth 7th grader to finish the race!! Joel Pogany, Blake Frame and Carter Bonnett all ran sub 14:00 for their race time.

The team boys finished 6th in the team standings.

Lane Smith now sits 6th on the Top 10 list for the 2 mile distance. Lane, Joel, Blake and Carter all moved up on the Top 10 list for the Little Hawkeye Conference meet.

On the girls side, Ella Walter was the first to cross the line for Osky finishing 19th while Sabrina Frost finished 23rd overall. The girls team finished 8th in the team standings.
Ella, Sabrina and Whitney Steinlage all are now on the Top 10 list for the Little Hawkeye Conference meet.

This is the final meet for the full team. 8 members of the team have chosen to run at the IATC State meet this Saturday at Ankeny Centennial.

This team has shown so much growth throughout this season. They have worked hard in practice learning how to be the best distance runner they can be. I hope they can use what they have learned (perseverance, leadership, teamwork, grit) as they move forward to other sports and future cross country and track seasons.
