11:00 am – 12:30 pm

Environmental Learning Center

Join other adults at the next O.W.L.S. program on Wednesday, November 20th from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm at the Mahaska County Environmental Learning Center at Caldwell Park. O.W.L.S. (Older, Wiser, Learning Seniors) is a “Lunch and Learn” program with the Mahaska County Conservation. You don’t necessarily need to be a senior, just an adult that would enjoy learning about “Pioneer History in Mahaska County”. The presentation will be given by Margaret Spiegel, the curator for the Nelson Pioneer Farm and Museum. Margaret will share her knowledge of early Mahaska County settlements, including; how the pioneers got here, where they came from, how they staked their claim, and information on some of the early families and the businesses they created.

BRING A LUNCH and a friend or two! If you would like to tour the new Environmental Learning Center, then we will show you around following the program. This program is free and reservations are not needed. If you have questions, contact Laura DeCook, Naturalist, at (641)673-9327 ext. 2 or decook@mahaskacounty.org.

The Environmental Learning Center is located at 2342 Hwy. 92 East, Oskaloosa. For information about more upcoming programs and events with MCCB, go to www.mahaskacounty.org or Mahaska County Conservation on Facebook.
