NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION MALL STORM SEWER CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Oskaloosa City Hall

Dear Business Owners and Residents:

This letter is to inform you that construction activity will begin the morning of October 1, 2012, weather permitting, on High Avenue, between North A Street and the north-south alley adjacent to 114 High Avenue West, and North A Street, between High Avenue and A Avenue. The scope of construction activity includes approximately 490 feet of storm drains and five intake structures which requires some excavation of public street and parking lot. This project will correct drainage issues within the area near Brown Shoe Fit and also connect several buildings downtown into the city’s storm sewer system.

The construction activity on High Avenue and North A Street may reduce traffic down to one open lane while still allowing vehicles traveling in both directions to be diverted around the localized work areas. The public parking lot to the north east of Penn Central Mall, as shown in the map, will have a reduced number of parking stalls due to this construction activity. The total construction activity will be 20 working days. As always be on the look out for flaggers and use caution when entering an area designated as a “construction zone.”

The City of Oskaloosa has immediate plans in the spring or early summer of 2013 to remove the failing concrete surface of the existing parking lot and reconstruct it with new concrete surface. The new parking lot will have improved vehicular traffic flow, additional sidewalks and ADA parking stalls to make it more pedestrian friendly.

Please direct all questions, concerns, or complaints directly to Akhilesh Pal, Oskaloosa Public Works Director, at 641-673-7472 (or) Dave Neubert, Oskaloosa Waste
Water Director, at 641-673-5433 (or) Doc Ver Meer, TK Concrete, at 641-780-2551.
